The omnipresent interface argument is the real play here. OpenAI isn't trying to own the data stack underneath but just become the default conversational wrapper people use to interact with complexity. It's kinda like how Google Search didn't need to own content to become the primary acess point for information. The big risk tho is whether that conversational layer actually creates enough stickiness once incumbents like Epic or Apple embed their own models directly into their ecosystems. If the UX advantage collapses when everyone has decent chat interfaces, then the moat isn't the interface anymore but distribution and default positioning, which OpenAI doesn't control.
